How AncestryScan Works

AncestryScan turns a face photo into an AI-powered ancestry-style visual estimate/report. The workflow is fast and simple, but the result should be understood as an estimate for curiosity and entertainment.

Short Answer

Upload a clear face photo, let AncestryScan run AI visual analysis, and review an ancestry-style report. AncestryScan is not a DNA test, does not analyze DNA, and should not be used for medical, legal, immigration, employment, or official ancestry decisions.

1. Upload a clear face photo

Start with a front-facing photo where the face is visible and evenly lit. Avoid heavy filters, sunglasses, masks, extreme angles, or motion blur. A better photo gives the AI more useful visual information.

  • Use a photo of yourself or someone who gave clear permission.
  • Keep the face centered and unobstructed.
  • Use natural lighting when possible.

2. Run AI visual analysis

AncestryScan reviews visible facial patterns and proportions from the submitted image. This is face photo analysis, not genetic analysis. No saliva sample, lab processing, or DNA sequencing is involved.

3. Receive an ancestry-style visual report

The app creates an AI-powered ancestry-style estimate/report with visual, regional, and phenotype-style context. The report is intended to be readable, shareable, and easy to understand without presenting itself as official ancestry evidence.

4. Understand the limits

AI ancestry-style photo apps can make mistakes because faces do not encode ancestry in a definitive way. Lighting, age, expression, photo quality, mixed ancestry, model limits, and human genetic complexity can all affect results.

5. Review privacy details

The current Privacy Policy says facial images and derived face data are processed for the analysis session and are not retained after processing. Users should read the Privacy Policy for the current legal details about account data, analytics, third-party processing, and data rights.
