How AncestryScan Works
AncestryScan uses AI photo analysis to create an ancestry-style visual estimate/report from a single photograph:
- Photo Check — Uses a clear, front-facing photo where the face is visible and evenly lit.
- Visual Analysis — Reviews visible face photo patterns. This is not DNA sequencing or genetic analysis.
- Reference Comparison — Compares visual signals against ancestry-style reference patterns to produce a directional estimate.
- Report Generation — Creates a readable visual report with region-style and phenotype-style context.
- Safety Context — Frames the result as an AI-powered estimate for curiosity and entertainment, not an official result.
Privacy & Data Handling
AncestryScan does not intentionally save uploaded facial images in its own database. The selected image is sent to an AI processing provider for the requested report. The provider's API data controls may include limited security or abuse-monitoring retention.
Analysis results are described as local to the user's device. Users should review the Privacy Policy for the current legal description of account data, analytics, third-party processing, biometric data notices, and user rights.
The app is positioned as a privacy-forward visual analysis tool, but it should still be used only with photos the user has the right and consent to submit.
